It was recently revealed that deciding on baby names are amongst the most important decisions of the pregnancy for expecting couples – and also for some the most difficult!
The most popular baby names of 2019 have just been unveiled, and it’s safe to say some may be surprised.
Taking inspiration from modern day television shows, such as Love Island and Game of Thrones, it is clear to see that mums and dads are loving more unique names. In particular, ‘Arya’ and ‘Emilia’, who are names of characters from the hit show Game of Thrones, have taken a place in the top 20 most popular girls names of 2019, along with ‘Theon’ and ‘Tyrion’ for the boys. We’ve seen a few Daenerys and Tyrions at Lollipop so can say this has definitely been a popular trend of 2019 and 2018 too!
Although with the ever-rising popularity of new and more unique names, it was shown that lots of popular names from the 1980s were also featured in the top 20, including John, David, Hannah and Emma.
The top name for the girls is Olivia, whilst Muhammed stole the top place for the boys.
Here are Lollipop we have seen a surge in the name Theo recently, so be prepared for plenty of Theos to be in your child’s class at school if it’s your chosen name! The same can be said for Jaxon, which is also seeing a rise in popularity.
